He almost, but didn't dodge, so he clawed at the fox's throat.

The fox jumped back. His claws had just snagged his throat. Leaffeather gasped again. She climbed higher in the tree and shook more violently.

He dug his claws into the tree bark, and with his hind paws, claws the fox's face.

The fox ran. Leaffeather hissed loudly and her pelt bristled.

He went to find herbs for his wounds.

She nodded and sat, quietly, and began to groom her tail. Her ears still flicked nervously, as if she were checking for more foxes.

"You know... I saw right through your lie, when you said you weren't scared of the fox. And it's alright, I was a bit scared myself," he meowed.

"Oh." She mewed quietly. "I am scared of foxes..." she confessed. "Ever since..."

She shrugged. "It's nothing." she stood up. "I'm used to loss now." She told him, shoulders sagging.
